Globe To Debut Its Year Zero Collection During Exclusive Movie Premiere Party at The Roosevelt 9/19

Globe's Year Zero (0000) Final Trailer from Globe Surf on Vimeo.

Globe, designers and distributors of shoes, clothing and cruiser skateboards, announces the Hollywood premiere and after-party of its latest surf movie, Year Zero, in conjunction with an exclusive product preview of its Year Zero collection at Hollywood, California’s Roosevelt Hotel on Monday, September 19, 2011. Produced in conjunction with the film, the Year Zerocollection features unique, one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by the film’s dystopian, post-apocalyptic art direction.

“We wanted this collection to reflect the same post-apocalyptic themes producer Joe G created in the film,” says Matt Hill, CEO Globe International. “The entire Year Zero collection is based on the idea of anti-surf and consists of diverse garments and footwear constructed using premium, high-end materials treated and distressed to reflect a vintage, military-inspired feel.”

The Year Zero collection, which will be on display during the event in a curated hotel suite, includes a Vietnam War-era jacket, a vintage motorcycle coat, Japanese denim, a black boardshort and a unique, fashion-forward, leather boot unlike anything Globe has ever released. The film, Year Zero, featuring an original soundtrack by Black Mountain will be premiered during the event on an outdoor screen by the hotel pool. Additional event entertainment provided by Louis Carreon and DJ Honky Kong.

Candy's not so daily outfit

Hey y'all!
This outfit is an outfit I came up with for a photoshoot I did featuring a more "feminine" look for my portfolio. I wanted something that said, spring, class and could be worn out to a party or the club.
I love the top because I got it on sale for half off at H&M. I highly recommend that when you guys visit H&M that you check out the sale racks! I got this shirt and the shirt from my last daily outfit blog came with it for FREE.

I love the color and shape of this top! The cinch at the waist also gives the appearance of a smaller waist and I Love that. Also it can be worn to the office with slacks and a blazer-ruffles hanging out.

I paired it with shorts from forever21 and another pair of awesome shoes from shoedazzle. My favorite part was the perfect matching of the shoes and the top. For the summer nude and light pinks are my fav. Btw these pumps as high as they are have a built in platform and are actually comfortable for an hour or three (compared to most pumps which I am NOT trying to stand in for more then 30 mins). I also recommend buying the non slip stickers to put at the bottom of any pump to give a more comfortable feel.
Hope you guys like my new model pics and the outfit~!
xoxo

Candys not so daily outfit post

Hello yall,
its been a minute so I would call this the not so daily outfit post.
Spring is here and I am very happy about it. One color that I see popping up alot is ORANGE and I LOVE it. So when I saw this "ostrich" orange clutch on shoedazzle I immediately ordered it. I have to say I have been using Shoedazzle for a couple of months now and their service is awesome. They also ship quickly and they send a nice pink travel bag for any product you purchase.

I wore this outfit to my good friend's Sara's birthday dinner. Classy, comfortable and fun. The shirt was from H&M and I loved the design because it has so many colors that you can accentuate. I chose to do this with the orange clutch and orange feather necklace also from H&M.
I also decided to wear a thin belt because the shirt is kinda oversized and flowy. I wanted to add some shape to it with the belt (without the belt it still looks cool). Black "faded" Skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters and black pumps from Zara. If you wanted to dress up the outfit some more, you could also wear this top with a highwaisted pencil skirt, tucking the shirt in ofcourse. :)
Overview:
Shirt H&M
Accessories H&M
Clutch Shoedazzle
Jeans Urban
Shoes Zara

Til next time!

MOCA: ART IN THE STREETS

There are some really cool things going on in LA this weekend, here's one exhibit to check out at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA entitled ART IN THE STREETS

Art in the Streets, the first major U.S. museum exhibition of the history of Graffiti and Street Art. The exhibition will trace the development of Graffiti and Street Art from the 1970s to the global movement it has become today, concentrating on key cities where a unique visual language or attitude has evolved. The exhibit will showcase installations by 50 of the some of the most dynamic artists from the Graffiti and Street Art Community, including Fab 5 Freddy (New York), Lee Quiñones (New York), Futura (New York), Margaret Kilgallen (San Francisco), Swoon (New York), Shepard Fairey (Los Angeles), Os Gemeos (São Paulo), and JR (Paris). MOCA’s exhibition will emphasize Los Angeles’s role in the evolution of graffiti and street art, with special sections dedicated to cholo graffiti and Dogtown skateboard culture. The exhibition will feature projects by influential local artists such as Craig R. Stecyk III, Chaz Bojórquez, Mister Cartoon, RETNA, SABER, REVOK, and RISK. The exhibition will also feature a memorial presentation of Battle Station, a rarely seen work by legendary artist and theorist RAMMELLZEE.

There will also be a special emphasis on photographers and filmmakers who documented graffiti and street art culture including Henry Chalfant, James Prigoff, Steve Grody, Gusmano Cesaretti, Estevan Oriol, Ed Templeton, Larry Clark, Terry Richardson, and Spike Jonze. A comprehensive timeline illustrated with artwork, photography, video, and ephemera will provide further historical context for the exhibition.

Here's the thing. I've already heard and read a lot of backlash concerning this exhibit. Some people in the Graff Community in Los Angeles might feel like this exhibit left out a few artists they felt should have had shine. I can totally understand the frustration behind that. In many scenes, there will always be a few people that never get the recognition they deserve and you lay back and think "I coulda' put together a better exhibit". Truth is, I'm not too familiar with some of the artists listed, but my intention is to go and find out for myself. They specifically say that the MOCA exhibition will focus on "Los Angeles’s role in the evolution of graffiti and street art, with special sections dedicated to cholo graffiti and Dogtown skateboard culture". So I say DOPE!! Because most people that know me, KNOW that I love Cholo Culture and the Z-boys are definitely a historic part of LA History! So I'm definitely down to check it out, and see what this exhibits got to offer. You should too. And in the end, if we still feel there should have been more Artists included... then get to it. I mean shit, I'd LOVE to see an exhibit that's well put together featuring L.A.'s grimiest Artist. Cuz you know what? I'm gonna be pretty upset if this is just another Hipster show :/ We'll see.

In The meantime, you should give it a try. I am :)

Art in the Streets opens to the Public April 17th and runs through August 8, 2011 at THE GEFFEN CONTEMPORARY AT MOCA. For more info click HERE!
